Greece Travel Guide

Whitewashed cliffs, blue domes, and thousands of islands to pick from — Greece rewards going beyond Santorini alone.
Where to Stay
Santorini’s Oia gets the sunset views and the crowds; Imerovigli offers similar caldera views with more quiet. On other islands, staying just outside the main port town usually means better prices with a short walk or bus ride to the action. See our stay guide for more.
What to Eat
Greek salad, grilled octopus, and fresh seafood taste completely different here than the diluted versions served abroad — order whatever the taverna is grilling that day rather than sticking to a fixed menu.
Sample 3-Day Itinerary (Athens & Santorini)
Day 1 — Athens
Climb the Acropolis early to beat the heat, visit the Acropolis Museum, and spend the evening in the Plaka neighborhood.
Day 2 — To Santorini
Take a morning flight (about 45 minutes) or a ferry (4–8 hours) to Santorini and spend the afternoon exploring Fira.
Day 3 — Oia & the Caldera
Walk the caldera path from Fira toward Oia in the morning, then watch the sunset from Oia’s village.
Ferry and flight times vary by season. Opening times and ticket rules change — check each sight before you go.
What to Wear
Whitewashed streets and boat trips call for breathable, sun-friendly clothing, but Orthodox churches and monasteries expect covered shoulders and knees, so pack one modest layer even on beach-focused islands.
