Greece’s islands run breezy and relaxed by day, but dinner still calls for a real outfit — and the season decides how much else you need beyond that.

Spring (March–May)

Mild and breezy, typically 15–22°C. Light layers, with a jacket for windy ferry crossings.

Summer (June–August)

Very hot and dry, often above 30°C. Light, breathable, and pale-colored clothing — it’s not just aesthetic, it genuinely helps against the sun bouncing off whitewashed streets.

Autumn (September–November)

Warm and pleasant through September, cooling and windier by November — a good stretch to avoid peak summer heat.

Winter (December–February)

Mild compared to Western Europe but genuinely rainy and windy, especially on the islands. A water-resistant jacket and a warm layer.

One Thing Locals Notice

Orthodox churches and monasteries enforce covered shoulders and knees strictly, even on the most casual island-hopping itinerary — keep one modest layer in the day bag. For the full trip breakdown, see our Greece travel guide.
